Much more electric power will be required with large peaks in demand during rush hours. The time-scales of this system's implementation and power plant building are similar so this problem should be surmountable. Premium-rate charges for track use in peak periods may also be helpful.

Freight transport overnight when power is plentiful and therefore cheap, will improve load factors helping power generation to be more cost effective.
