everyone wants their own car
something to be proud of, to make individual, to polish on Sunday mornings. It's one of the largest purchases anyone makes - we want our cars to reflect our personality, lifestyle, status and income.
to get from A to B
door-to-door, carrying luggage and passengers, without changing transport system or stopping uneccessarily
cheap fuel, low road costs, low maintenance costs
mobility is important in the 21st century (we're nearly there) and although telecommunications are brilliant for most business contact, nothing beats face-to-face meetings - and what businessman wants to sit on a train for 3 hours there and back again, for a 1 hour meeting?
to travel long distances quickly and without danger
without having to concentrate on the road, watch out for other drivers, slowing down for bad weather and jams... actually, we'd rather read a book, do some work, watch TV, go to sleep, than become stressed and tired in traffic
to reduce traffic congestion, air pollution and global warming
for the good of the planet, for our children's future and make our own environment healthier and more pleasant, especially in city centres
most freight traffic to be taken off the roads
to make them safer for private citizens, to increase efficiency and speed of freight delivery, to reduce costs of retail goods
fewer accidents
due to traffic chaos, speeding in urban and suburban areas, frayed tempers and road rage
So, what do we need?
