Being electrically driven, the vehicles will emit no pollutants - not even tyre dust when on the track. They are also much more efficient than rubber-tyred cars, and will use much less energy, particularly on longer, faster, routes, as they are biased towards ad-hoc train forming. Their performance is such that they could replace air travel for trips of up to 400 to 500 miles with great savings in CO2 emissions. There will be a need for more electricity generating plants to supply the power, but these are also more efficient and less polluting than are the motor vehicle engines they will replace.
